Through on-the-ground interviews with residents and local officials, the story revealed gaps in stormwater infrastructure and brought attention to the urgent need for recovery resources. Continued coverage of the crisis helped elevate the issue publicly, contributing to millions of dollars directed toward recovery funding and new legislation to strengthen flood infrastructure.
